Social enterprise seems to be on the program at every nonprofit management conference these days. What is social enterprise? In our view, the label applies to any nonprofit organization that adopts entrepreneurial strategies for earned income in support of its mission. These strategies include a client focus, market research of demand and opportunities, use of financial capital, and evaluation based on both social impact and business results.
